Episode 44- Are you attempting to be mindful in raising your children? In this episode, hear Amber and Jenna's personal experiences in trying to parent consciously. Realistically, parenting usually happens when we are tired, stressed and sleep-deprived, so we often end up defaulting to autopilot. Autopilot default mode usually means falling back into the patterns that were pushed upon us by our own parents in childhood, and it can be hard to make wise and mindful decisions in the heat of the moment. Hear how Jenna and Amber have tried to cope with this reality with their own experiences.

,DEFINITION of OUR EXPERIENCES IN CONSCIOUS PARENTING: Our adventures in taking parenthood as an opportunity to face our deepest fears and triggers--to evolve--in order to raise revolutionaries who are born to build a new paradigm of "Love Embodied" on Earth. Not repeating the patterns of our own upbringing, but instead mindfully changing our negative energy patterns before they are passed down to the child.

MAIN POINTS:
  • Not one "right" way to be a conscious parent. Conscious parenting will be different for every parent/child combination.
  • Hear Amber and Jenna's personal experiences.
  • However, we can all try to parent with "eyes open" by not subconsciously parenting the way we were parented (with all the same mistakes that were made on us).
  • Respond consciously to difficult moments, rather than react unconsciously in those moments.
  • Presence be with your child, get down to their level and be with them when they need you.
  • Let your intuition be your guide. The best way is different for every child.
  • Boundaries that teach them how to stay safe in the world.
  • Try your best to get rid of negative inherited patterns, shift to belief patterns that are not limiting.
  • Be the best version of yourself to give your child the best chance at happiness and success.
  • Self-care is crucial. If you loose yourself, you will break down. You breaking down is not good for your babies (but don't beat yourself up if this has happened already, just take care of yourself starting now.)
  • Listen to this podcast (Self-Care Crisis) to hear what can happen if you don't take care of yourself in parenting.
  • What can you do to work on yourself to help your parenting situation?
  • Don't let yourself fall into default auto-pilot mode with parenting. Self-care will help with this.
  • Listen to the child's words, let them express themselves and then offer a reflection so the child knows they are understood.
  • Narrate their emotional experience ("It looks like you are feeling sad right now, that's ok, you can cry!")
  • Check out RIE parenting method.
Check out this amazing book called Elevating Child Care: A Guide to Respectful Parenting by Janet Landsbury (conscious parenting expert)

CHALLENGE/INVITATION: Observe yourself. Check in and notice if there are any subconscious negative patterns that are playing out in your parenting style that don't serve you, and work on reprograming these areas to maximize your parenting experience.
