Looking for the perfect prezzy for the special dad's in your life? We broke down great gift ideas using the 5 Love Languages as a guide.

We all express love in different ways and wish to receive love in certain ways. Some dads just want a heart-felt card with words of affection, while others desire some quality time with their children. Follow this guide to decipher what gifts would be best for the dads in your life based on what love language speaks to them

Love Language #1: Acts of Service
Does your Dad light up when someone does something practical for him to help out his life? Does he believe actions speak louder than words?
Gift Ideas:
  • Shine and fix his favorite shoes
  • Mow the Lawn
  • Organize his closet
  • Cook him his favorite meal.
  • Get his car washed
However big or small, offering him this act of service will leave him feeling loved and cared for on a deep level.

Love Language #2: Quality time
Does Dad pine for a moment of undistracted, uninterrupted quality time with the people he loves? And remember, keep your phone out of sight during his time with you!!
Gift Ideas:
  • Spend the day with him on a camping trip in to the wilderness
  • A one on one lunch at his favorite spot followed by a stroll by water
  • Father’s Day Fishing trip
  • Take him to the movie that he wants to see
  • Fly to see him (if you don’t live close!)

Love Language #3: Gifts
Does Dad gush over gifts you buy him? If he turns into a little boy at the sight of a present and sincerely loves receiving gifts then its time to get creative and nail the perfect surprise gift for him!
Gift Ideas:
  • Fashionable clothing item to freshen his wardrobe
  • A new tool that can help him with the project he wants to finish
  • Tech gadget or extra battery pack
  • A trip somewhere that he has been wanting to go
  • Tickets to see his favorite team
  • A handmade card
Whatever you buy him (or make), make sure it is meaningful to him and presented with care, this ritual of wrapping and presenting the gift is more important to him that you may realize.

Language of Love #4: Physical touch
Does Dad love holding your hand? Does he try get in as many hugs as possible? Or perhaps he is constantly asking for a back rub?  If so, physical touch could be his love language.
Gift Ideas
  • Book (or give) him a massage
  • Give him hug coupons
  • Hold his hand while you walk him to lunch
  • Book him for his first manicure/pedicure
Depending on what role this dad plays in your life, it could be conveyed differently, just make sure he feel your touch to know he is loved!

Language of Love #5: Words of Affirmation
Does Dad fish for compliments and light up when he gets them? Does it bring him satisfaction and delight when you acknowledge him for being a great Dad or tell him “I love you”?
Gift Ideas:
  • Say, "I LOVE YOU DAD"
  • Say, "Thank you for trying your best to be the best father you can to me"
  • Say, "I appreciate you"
  • Say, "I am so grateful that you are my Dad."
  • Write out all these affirmations so he will have it to look at.
This dad just wants to hear you say how much you love and appreciate him. So get to it!

And for those who have difficult relationships with their fathers, remember that this is an opportunity for healing, forgiveness and for our parents to learn from us.

I hope this has given you some good ideas and inspiration for this Fathers Day!
